Memorial Weekend Northern Lights

What a show, this was my best shot of the Northern Lights from Memorial Day weekend. I got down to this road from the hillside where I put together the large panorama, once I looked north I noticed some strange phenomena on the horizon, it looked like spotlights fading in and out pointing straight up in the sky. I stopped in the middle of the road, turned off my headlights, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the Northern Lights! The very first time I've ever seen them, I flew out of truck, grabbed my tripod and camera, set up as quickly as I could and snapped a short exposure. I literally jumped around in happiness when the picture popped up on the camera, suspicions confirmed, beautiful green/red/purple curtains of light moving around in the sky.

I tossed out my plans to shoot at the gold dredge and instead spent the next 2 hours watching and shooting in amazement at something that's been on my bucket list for quite some time.
