Dam Beautiful Milky Way
This is a shot from the dam at East Canyon Reservoir, @daniel.bowmanphoto had recommended this composition to me since the reservoir is so full right now there's a beautiful waterfall pouring over the spillway. It just happens align perfectly with the core this time of year as it rises after astro twilight. Unfortunately there is a ridiculous amount of light pollution, it's actually less than 20 miles (as the crow flies) from the major Salt Lake metro area light dome. It's bright enough you can easily walk around without your headlamp on when your eyes adjust. Gave me a chance to test out my didymium light pollution filter for my Sigma 50mm lens. Clouds cleared up just long enough to get the sky shots and then rolled back in shortly after, lucky timing!
11 shots for this one, 5 for the sky and 6 for the foreground, shot with my Nikon D800E and Sigma Art 50mm lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. All shots were 2.5 minute exposures at f2.8, ISO 800 for the sky, 1600 for the foreground.
