When a plan comes together
Gotta love when you plan out a shot without ever having seen a place before, you picture the shot in your head, use all the available software to plan the shot out with the Milky Way, do some scouting a few hours before hand in heavy cloud cover, then have everything come together nicely. The entire Milky Way nicely aligns with this mountain across from Smith and Morehouse Reservoir, also got some very nice airglow throughout the sky. Only problem was the wind picked up after the first foreground shot, which meant the far right side of the reservoir was clearish, and then got blurry as the wind whipped up the water.
12 shots for this one, 6 for the foreground and 6 for the sky, all taken back to back with my Nikon D800E and Sigma Art 35mm f1.4 lens on a Skywatcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. Sky shots are 2 minute exposures at f2.5 and ISO 800, foreground shots are 2 minute exposures at f1.4 and ISO 1600.
