Into the Abyss
My goals this year have revolved around capturing our experiences when capturing the Milky Way, which of course means capturing Bry as she sets up in precarious places such as the edge of this canyon some 1,000ft above the bottom. We often get to explore places in a state that a seemingly endless supply of "whoa" locations, I've been doing it my whole life as I grew up in Utah, and this one vastly exceeded all expectations. The exposure that captured Bry managed to get two perspectives, one as she rested by her bag (trying to stay warm in the cold breeze) and another as a ghostly apparition behind her camera studying her most recent exposure. This night we managed to capture some very interesting airglow, variations in reds to green crossed the entire sky. 14 exposures went into this image, all shot with a Nikon D5300 and Sigma Art 18-35mm on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer. Sky exposures are 3 minutes at f2.2 and ISO 400, foreground exposures are 3 minutes at f1.8 and ISO 400.
